Feel the Fear
Updated: Jan 28
I would love to be able to work on artwork for the cover of the book. It is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, but I haven’t worked on it. There is the fear ruining it that stops me. I start stuff and then when it begins to look good, I get scared I’m going to mess it up... so I stop.
Then there are the other projects that I do work on (the ones I do instead of the book cover art), but they aren’t very good... so I get frustrated and stop.
It is not fun to keep starting and stopping and never feeling like you’re getting anywhere.
This is what it’s like to live a creative life.
It is challenging.
But I like a challenge - at least that is what I keep telling myself. It’s getting through to the other side that keeps me going. It’s surprising myself by solving the problems that need to be solved and then sharing that with people.
That’s the whole point. So today, I plan to work on cover art and share it with my critique group. If all I do is worry about what will happen... then nothing will happen.
Feel the fear and do it anyway. That is my advice for myself and to you. Does any of this sound familiar? Please share what the creative process is like for you!
